I've been eating at Houston's families of restaurants for 40 years. I usually frequent the restaurants with friendly fun bartenders. This is why I come back to Bandera to see Tia. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: $50–60

Extremely disappointing experience with the hostess at Bandera. I called ahead to ask whether they could accommodate a walk-in for two and was told to come in. We were literally one minute away, so we arrived almost immediately. Once we got there, the hostess suddenly told us there was no space and said she needed to “check.” While she was checking, two wonderful waitresses greeted us, were incredibly welcoming, and immediately found a table for us in the middle of the restaurant. As they were seating us, the original hostess came over and stopped them from giving us the table, leaving us standing there in front of everyone. It was unnecessary, awkward, and frankly embarrassing. When I asked to speak with a manager, the situation suddenly changed. The hostess told me that someone had “double reserved” a table, and somehow we were then able to be seated after all. The two waitresses were fantastic and deserve recognition for how welcoming and professional they were. Unfortunately, the hostess handled the entire situation terribly. If there was genuinely no availability, that should have been communicated when I called one minute earlier. And if there was availability—as the other staff clearly demonstrated—there was absolutely no reason to stop us from being seated and embarrass us in the middle of the restaurant. A restaurant with Bandera’s reputation should provide a much more professional and consistent experience from the moment guests walk through the door.

Coming back to dine at Bandera @CDM from Tokyo without a reservation, and the restaurant was absolutely packed. We were famished and were told there would be a wait, but what really stood out was how wonderful the host staff were. Jing, Nick, and another lovely hostess whose name we unfortunately didn’t catch went above and beyond to make what could have been a frustrating wait as pleasant as possible. They were warm, attentive, and genuinely willing to help accommodate our group despite how incredibly busy the restaurant was. Their kindness and hospitality made such a difference and left a lasting impression on all of us. We truly appreciated their efforts and wanted to make sure they received the recognition they deserve. Thank you for taking such good care of us! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
