I love this place in Paris, but unfortunately, my evening was ruined by an unpleasant surprise: a little rat that wandered into the living room and brushed against my friend's bag. The response I received from the butler telling me that this often happens, especially in winter, was not at all satisfactory. An establishment of this quality should take drastic measures to avoid this type of incident.

I loved spending part of my evening at the Meurice bar. The atmosphere is calm, it's elegant, the lights dimmed. The service went well, they offer chocolate with the glasses. It's a bar that targets a certain clientele, however, the prices are quite high. Price per person: €10–20 Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5

Luxury is choosing your clients! The experience of tasting Cédric Grolet's trompe l'oeil pastries turned out to be a real discovery of a place concentrated in history. The simple story of a hotel restaurant only for the ultra rich. We are invited to wait in the lobby, which according to the receptionists can vary from at least 2 hours to as they say "we don't know how long, some customers stay until 1 a.m., so you know, you can wait a long time ". Very very funny. The instructions given to staff are clear: discourage and refuse profiles that are not "ultra rich", i.e. those who are neither guests of the hotel rooms, nor guests of tea time or the restaurant. When you only come to enjoy pastries and hot drinks, you are not part of the definition of what “a customer” is in the eyes of Meurice. You are a basic consumer who should above all be discouraged and dismissed. By magic, after 45 minutes of waiting, for which I know the trigger of this magic, the receptionist announces that tables are free and we are seated to enjoy pastries at 28€ each. We understand when we see the empty room that the places existed and had been free for a long time, but that the receptionists had instructions to make us wait so that we left naturally exhausted from the wait that they made us endure for free because we were not is not their target customer. Since we were there for the experience, we were going to experiment. And those famous customers who can stay until 1 a.m. were now us! We taste our pastries and enjoy the place. My husband even falls asleep on an armchair and he can say that he slept at the Meurice at an unbeatable rate. I encourage you to go take a nap in the armchairs of bar 228 du Meurice, it's absolutely a must and take your time. It's exquisite. Free luxury being reserved for a caste, we are now members of this elitist club. Absolutely recommendable experience to everyone around you. It’s exhilarating to emerge victorious from this challenge. Mr. Director of 228, I am waiting for your comment on my review thanking me for sharing and that you can't wait for us to come back! Save yourself time, don't inspect or be surprised by an institutionalized fool's game. We really enjoyed challenging this contempt. It's a much more appreciated treat than Cédric Grolet's trompe-l'oeil. With all our thanks. We spent a pleasant and funny afternoon overriding your method of selecting clients. And giving a 1-star review to a palace as a customer is satisfying. Kind regards Price per person: €50–60 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

Dear Madam, Thank you for taking the time to write such a long review following your visit …Dear Madam, Thank you for taking the time to write such a long review following your visit to Bar 228. We have taken note of your remarks with amazement. Indeed, it is not, and has never been, our practice to refuse customers because of a particular profile. Beyond the incongruity of the assertion, this would simply not be feasible. Unfortunately, you do not mention what day and what time you came to see us, so we have no information to provide you with an explanation. I am nevertheless delighted to read that you are satisfied with your time spent with us, even if I assure you that you did not have to go beyond anything. And isn’t customer satisfaction the primary objective of any hotel establishment?! Yours sincerely, Franka Holtmann General managerMore
