Nestled in the quiet area of Umegaoka is Bar ala, a pub and bar offering a cozy retreat for those looking to enjoy a range of alcoholic beverages. Situated at 1 Chome−15−11 on the basement level of Tomo Building, this casual spot primarily offers dine-in service with an array of drinks including beer, cocktails, wine, and harder liquors. The atmosphere is understatedly calm, with some patrons enjoying a luxury of indulging in fine sake or exploring unique spirits while perhaps leafing through a novel or comic.
However, notes from visitors suggest a mix of experiences. While some appreciate the retreat's charm and enjoy hearty food like winter oden, others have raised issues about the service — notably interactions with the owner, which range from delightfully engaging to less favorable experiences. Amenities at Bar ala are relatively limited, with no wheelchair accessibility noted and patrons advised to bring cash as it is the only accepted form of payment. The establishment touts a reputation for great cocktails and an almost eclectic ambience.
Open late, Bar ala operates nightly, except Tuesdays, from 8:00 p.m. until 3:00 a.m., providing a distinctive haunt for night owls in Setagaya. While the reviews reflect varying views, it's important to be aware that they date back three years, and there is limited current information available about changes or improvements. Visitors should approach this venue with an open mind, prepared for an evening influenced greatly by the character of its longstanding master.

A hideaway in Umegaoka where a slightly tough-looking master makes delicious sake. You can spend a luxurious time listening to records while reading novels and comics lined up in the store, asking the master about alcohol, and eating oden in the winter.

マスターは優しいですが少し無愛想なところがある為、そこら辺を加味した上で理解がある方にはいいかもしれません。 タバコ吸えるお店なので、個人的には助かってます。 Price per person: ¥3,000–4,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
