I’m not really a bar person and usually don’t care much about cocktails, but during our trip to Kyoto we decided to spend a few evenings exploring local bars — and this place completely blew us away. The atmosphere is incredibly intimate and cozy, the cocktails are genuinely unique, and the owner himself is also the bartender and has been working here for 17 years. You can immediately feel the experience and passion behind every drink. Honestly, these were some of the best cocktails I’ve ever had in my life. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Kyoto — it’s truly top-tier. Price per person: ¥7,000–8,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Spectacular speakeasy-like out-of-a-movie set, Bar Indigo is a Small but super classy bar, well stocked with rare Japanese whiskeys, even when, at the time of this review, some of the most coveted Japanese whiskey is out of stock. Well, this bar has it. I highly recommend it, and the service was top-notch. The prices were very competitive for the whiskeys we tried. Price per person: ¥2,000–3,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
