The single most important restaurant visit you can make in Bucharest! You can't find a more authentic and wonderful experience as La Baraca anywhere. The food is of the highest quality and best recipes that I've had. But what truly makes it the place to visit is the feeling you get of being welcome and taken care of by your host Nicu (the owner), who treats you like family. Absolute must have's are: the mici with fries, the ciorba soup (many varieties), and the chicken snitzel with mashed potatoes. As a starter you must try the "fasole batuta" - similar to hummus but made with beans and garlic, and far more flavorful. Lastly, for dessert, the papanasi (fried sweet dough topped with cream and fruit jam like you've never had) - Everything was delicious! As a Romanian who's spent most of his life in the UK and Canada, coming here with my Romanian family, it says something that we all left completely impressed (especially my parents and British wife!) If you make one stop for dinner, visit La Baraca - even if it's a bit out of your way.
