We made a reservation for 8:45 and (silly us) came early hoping to be seated early if they weren't busy...lol. It was our first time, and we didn't know quite how packed the place could get. Alas, we stood around waiting, but had a beverage. It was a little frustrating to be seated AFTER the reservation time, but the rest of the experience was top-notch. I think I was just hangry at that point. Our servers were kind and didn't make us feel rushed, even though it was a madhouse with people waiting for tables all over the place. She took the liberty of marking up the entire menu to let me know what I could safely order gluten-free. With low expectations for Spanish/Italian food in America ALWAYS, I was absolutely blown away with how delicious this place was. Like, REALLY good. I see why they are packed all the time. If you told me I was actually back in Barcelona, I would have believed it. We ordered the charcuterie 3-fer, then for tapas: patatas bravas, hangar steak, and scallops (modified for GF). For the entree, we split the picante chicken dish (sauce is next-level amazing -- but spicy, so don't order if that's not your thing). Finally, for dessert, we did the flourless chocolate cake and flan. Everything was tremendous. (Oh, and they brought GF bread and olive oil!) I ordered a glass of sangria and it was tasty. It had that more-like-juice proportion, but I enjoyed it. The food is very obviously fresh and high-quality. It is going to be a nice place in our rotation. Every staff member with which we interacted was especially friendly and accommodating. Can't wait to come back.
Our first impression was not good. We (a group of 6) waited an hour past our reservation time to finally get a table. I had been ready to leave when they finally came to us to take us to the table. That said, once we were at the table, we were treated to excellent service. Within minutes, three plates of tapas were brought to our table on the house, knowing we would be hungry due to the wait. Our servers (we had two, and I am ashamed to say I can't remember their names) were exceptionally attentive to our needs. The food was incredibly good. I tried from many plates and found all to be well prepared with wonderful tastes. After our meal was done, our server asked if we wanted dessert, as it was on the house. We tried several; the only thing we really didn't care for was the burnt cheesecake. Everything else was great. The manager stopped by at the end, checking on us and bringing us cups of cheer (prosecco). As I said, the first impression was bad, but the service and food more than made up from that mistake. I would be happy to go there again, hopefully at a little less busy time.
Great brunch. Delicious cheesecake.
