Food at Barnum Roma
Barnum Roma is a charming establishment that offers tasty American-style breakfast and brunch in the heart of Rome. The ambiance is welcoming and the staff is extremely friendly, offering free gifts to guests. The interior design is minimalistic yet cute, with a circus theme that adds a touch of whimsy. Prices are not cheap but match the high quality of the ingredients.

Located in a great area, Barnum Roma is a perfect spot for a delicious breakfast before a day of sightseeing. The menu boasts a variety of dishes such as avocado toast with poached eggs, pancakes, and a club sandwich. The poached eggs have received mixed reviews, but the scrambled eggs are a better option. The cold brew coffee is a must-try, especially on a hot summer day.

Barnum Roma also offers outdoor seating for those who prefer dining al fresco. They have a variety of soft drinks, fresh juices, and excellent cappuccinos. The menu is in both Italian and English, making it easy for non-Italian speakers to order.

Overall, Barnum Roma is a fine dining spot that serves up delicious breakfast and brunch options with quality ingredients and excellent service. It's definitely worth a visit when in Rome.

We had a club sandwich and it was INCREDIBLE. also huge. So if you’re not suuuuper hungry, I’d suggest splitting one. Coffee was also incredible. We stood in the line for about 20 minutes. But hey it’s Rome and a viral spot so it was fine and worth it too. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Meal type: Brunch Price per person: €20–30

One of the worst brunch experiences we’ve had in Europe. The problems started immediately. My wife ordered avocado toast with a poached egg, but the egg white was still raw and runny. When we politely pointed it out, the server insisted that “that’s what a poached egg is.” It isn’t. A properly poached egg should have a fully cooked white and a runny yolk. They took it back and returned with the exact opposite problem - a completely overcooked egg with a hard yolk (photo attached). Things only got worse from there. My $30 pastrami sandwich barely had any meat, making it laughably poor value. The potatoes served with it had a hair in them. Even the pancakes were inconsistent: one was beautifully golden while the other was heavily over-browned, showing a surprising lack of attention to detail. What disappointed us most wasn’t just the food - it was the response. Mistakes happen in every restaurant, but instead of acknowledging them or apologizing, the staff were dismissive and defensive. I appreciate that the waiter eventually apologized and removed the avocado toast from the bill, which was the right thing to do. Unfortunately, by that point we’d already dealt with an undercooked egg, an overcooked replacement, hair in the potatoes, an underwhelming pastrami sandwich, and inconsistent pancakes. The gesture was appreciated, but it wasn’t enough to make up for the overall experience. Barnum Roma charges premium prices but delivers mediocre food, poor quality control, and disappointing service. There are far too many excellent cafés in Rome to waste your time or money here. We left frustrated and would not return. Food: 2 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3 Meal type: Brunch

Dear Yousef,Thank you for your feedback. We’re sorry to read that your experience felt this way.Regarding the poached egg, our eggs are normally served with a soft yolk. When you asked for it to be cooked more, we replaced it and tried to adjust it to your preference. It clearly still wasn’t right for you, and for that we’re sorry. As for the other points, we did check in with your table during the visit and tried to understand what wasn’t working. We also removed the avocado toast from the bill as a gesture of goodwill. Our pancakes are made and cooked by hand, so there can be some natural variation in colour from one to another, especially when cooked with butter. That said, we understand that your overall experience was disappointing. We certainly don’t recognise Barnum in the description of mediocre food and poor service, but we respect that this was your impression that day.Thank you for visiting us.
