My husband and I visited Lake Tahoe on our honeymoon. Base camp pizza was right under hotel. We ate here twice for dinner. Food and service was excellent. Our server Jennifer was so friendly and provided an amazing dining experience. Would highly recommend this restaurant for a casual dinner!
Wonderful customer service and ambiance! We ordered a salad and pizza and a couple glasses of wine. Our waitress, Kat was delightful and very efficient and caring. The food was fantastic! Would definitely return.
Stayed in Tahoe for a few nights with so,e friends and we were trying to figure out what to have on our last night in Tahoe. Base Camp Pizza has one of the highest reviews and it looked like it was a packed house, so my friends and I decided to try this place out. The quoted wait time was over 40mins for my group of five, so we decided to order to go and take it back to our hotel. We ordered two large pizzas, mozzarella sticks and garlic fries. I'll start with the appetizers. The mozzarella sticks weren't that great. The cheese was hard, like the cheese had been siting in the fridge for a few days. It's like the cooks just bought a packet of string cheese from the supermarket and then coat it with batter and deep-fry it. It was also overpriced for such a small serving. As for the garlic fries, my friend read on Yelp that their garlic fries were amazing. We ordered the garlic fries and were disappointed on the amount of fries that were given to us. As for the taste, it was okay; tasted like any other garlic fries - except there wasn't much of a garlic flavor. For the pizzas, we ordered the popular Base Camp pizza and one Big Mountain pizza. The Base Camp is their "house favorite" and I'm guessing it's their speciality and one of their most ordered. The pizza was okay. Didn't have much sauce on the pizza, so there wasn't much flavor, but they didn't skimp out on toppings. The Big Mountain was probably my favorite because I love meat. But this pizza also didn't have much sauce, so most of the flavor was coming from the meat toppings rather than the pizza sauce. When it comes to pizza, I judge the pizza off the amount of cheese is on the pizza and how much flavor is in the sauce. The pizzas at Base Camp were just okay for me, but I'm sure it's one of the top places in Tahoe. If I were visiting again and wanted pizza, I would probably come back to try the other types of pizza they offer.
