We tried Basilico this evening for the first time having noted good reviews. We were sorely disappointed. Service was particularly bad and slow. On ordering, we ordered a Hendricks & Tonic. “Our Hendricks is flavoured”. “ok, what flavour is it?”. “I don’t know I would need to check”. This is how the evening continued. We had to ask for water, 4 times, from 4 different people. Food wasn’t great; prawns watery and clams gritty. Wine wasn’t cold. We waited 20 minutes for food to be cleared so we skipped dessert and I asked for the bill. Waited another 15 minutes, routinely ignored by staff, then was told I had to go to the counter to pay. Went to the counter to pay.. “well, everything ok for you?”. When I explained no, service was poor “what do you expect?! We’re 2 down tonight sick. Im rushed off my feet and the sweat’s running down my back. Im sorry but we’re doing our best”. For the money paid; we expect basic service and good food. We expect not to treated as the problem. What do you expect? I don’t expect this place to survive based on this experience. Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £50–60
