I really like this place a lot. Great food and great people.The bartender/server made me a special Shark Week shark drink because I’m one of those sober nerds. Sometimes I like to look at other reviews. Deborah seems like she’s fun at parties. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Beatly so-so pub food. Be advised that parking in the area is difficult. The exterior is beautiful and sort of mysterious. There is some, as a matter of fact, a lot of German terms and letters all around. Inside is kinda dark, perhaps dank, with seating adjacent to a large bar. The clean headed fella Inside was snappy and not accommodating at all with our seating requests although there was plenty of available tables. Hard strike one. To counter this our server Debbie was delightful. Since we had never been there before we asked for a recommendation. As directed we ordered some chicken wings and some curly fries with brisket and a secret house sauce to start. To me, the wings were undercooked and lacked flavor. The curly fries were good but not nearly as good as Arby's. The brisket was dry and obviously reheated in some way. My guess is microwave. There was no smoke ring on the brisket and most of the beef note had been cooked out of it hours ago. We both ordered the Pastrami Sandwich as an entre. It's no Katz deli by far. Again the meat was dry and flavorless. BOTH THE BRISKET AND THE PASTRAMI WERE CUT IMPROPERLY. The meats we kinda hacked up any which way. This made for significant bites that you had to chew for days. Anyone familiar with these meats, which are the same muscle in the cow, knows that you slice them thinly and against the grain. That's preparation 101 and a hard strike two. My friend ordered a local beer that he enjoyed. I think that the booze is the key here. If you come to drink and sit outside on a good day, this is your place. My experience was that if you want delicious food you had better be drunk first or you won't find it here. The place did not strike out but I suspect that my back walking out the door is the last time that they will see me. Dutchess County is not know for it's delicious dining choices or refined judges of food taste and quality. The Beast, or German Beer Haus, or whatever it is called is an example of this. As always your mileage may vary. Price per person: $40–50

Thanks for taking the time to write what appears to be a restaurant review, a parking survey, and a seminar on brisket anatomy all in one. As for “strike one,” you were a party of two requesting one of our four-top tables during the start of dinner service. We reserve larger tables for larger parties whenever possible. That’s not being unaccommodating—it’s simply how restaurants operate. Taste is subjective, but a few of your conclusions aren’t. Our brisket and pastrami are prepared in-house, not microwaved, and they’re sliced the way we intend them to be for the sandwiches we serve—not to imitate Katz’s, Arby’s, or anyone else. Comparing a local independent restaurant to a New York deli, a fast-food chain, and then dismissing an entire county’s dining scene says more about your expectations than it does about our food. Fortunately, our guests come to Beast to enjoy Beast—not to grade us against chain restaurants, Manhattan institutions, or an imaginary version of what they hoped we’d be. We’ll continue saving four-top tables for groups of four and making our food the way we make it! #delicious
