Wine pair 1/10 almost all whites not well paired even if everything else was amazing the wine pairing was amateur at best and the sommelier was rude to boot we started with two whites then a single red then BACK to white when we told him we prefer not to continue on whites after the first decent wine and stick with reds he was a jerk FYI it was $100 plus tip. We asked the server before dinner about a corkage it was $35 very high imo he told us they are known for their amazing wine pairings to bad it wasn’t even close to amazing.
Fine dining atmosphere 2/10 eating at a cafeteria lunch table is fine in a cafeteria but not at $175 a person plus tip meal.
Food 3/10
Nothing was amazing the ingredients were common and cheap for a meal at this price point. The sequence of course was dreadful.
Course 1
1 shingoku oyster made with trout roe this is popular at one of favorite restaurants for $4 and it’s better then the beast version.
Course 2
This was probably the best overall dish Approximately 1 oz of house smoked salmon it was very rich with a combination of 2 heavy sauces and a potato chip this was paired with a light citrusy white wine. Dude your in pinot noir country get it together. Typically a big white would work with smoked fish but every flavor in the dish was big and heavy
Course 3
Marrow bone we buy these for our dogs they are typically 4 for $5. A single bone It was served in a beef broth which is just a byproduct of roasting the bone ????. It had a few pasta pouches which was the only ingredient in the whole meal that was impressive.
Course 4
We went BACK to white wine and a cheap unimpressive salad you could make at home for $10 for a family of 5. Horrible sequencing
Course 5
A mini biscuit with cheese, the cheese was good the sauce and the biscuit where ok. Again horrible sequence we opted out of the wine pairing at course 4 when the third subpar white came out after a red so I’m not sure on this pairing. This course could have gone 1 or 2 but not 5
Course 6
Ice cream and apples the ice cream was good but it was a very small lump of basic ice cream with a few apple slices and some pistachios not a fine dining desert.
