We are visiting Houston and Beaver’s was recommended to us. We ordered 2 beers, the buffalo cauliflower appetizer, a burger, a fried chicken salad, and a baked potato with cheese (for my picky son). I saw that the menu had a loaded brisket baked potato and asked if I could just order a potato with cheese. The waiter quickly said “yes.” I guess I should have asked, but I assumed that there would be a price adjustment for a potato without the brisket or any of the other toppings. The baked potato was $16!
The meal was fine, not really anything that I’d return for and expensive for what we ate ($90). The people next to us we’re complaining about their meal to the manager, so I don’t think that their experience was great either. Overall, we ate mediocre food and had a disappointing experience.

Six people were in our group and we all ordered something different, from the crispy chicken salad to the mac 'n' cheese to the melon and feta salad. Everyone was very happy with the food. Since we were celebrating birthdays of two people, we ended the meal with beaver balls. The beaver balls are reason enough to come to Beaver's: they are fried balls of brownie dough. They are very moist and are served warm with vanilla ice cream. Can't speak specifically about what everyone loved about their individual orders, but I'm the one who had the melon and feta salad. It was perfect for spring weather out on the patio. Because of the feta and bacon crumbles, it was reasonably filling for a light eater, especially with a beaver ball for dessert. The server was very accommodating about giving us separate checks--she could have saved herself some trouble if she had asked us if we wanted dessert before she brought the checks. The water glasses were kept filled, but I had to ask for more iced tea.
