Anne was absolutely lovely and provided such amazing service! She was really friendly, welcoming and made sure everything was perfect throughout our visit. I’ve been to the Packet Steamer Beefeater many times without issue, but my latest visit was disappointing. I ordered the surf and turf, and while I appreciated that they were willing to replace the chips with three onion rings (since they don’t offer sweet potato fries), the overall experience fell flat. Firstly, the wait was nearly an hour before any food started arriving, and it came out sporadically. My meal arrived 10 minutes after everyone else’s, and it was stone cold—apart from the onion rings. The calamari was a major letdown, too. It was practically non-existent, as if they’d just emptied the crumbs from the bottom of the bag onto the plate. The staff seemed very understaffed, and the elderly lady working there was doing her best to hold things together. She deserves credit for her effort but clearly couldn’t keep up. While I’ve had good experiences in the past, this visit left me disappointed. Hopefully, they can address the staffing issues and improve food quality.
