Enjoy the selection of beers

Once the promenade around the Trinity St. Paul's United Church is over, visit Beer Station. It is good to enjoy delicious draft beer. Based on the reviewers' opinions, the service is terrific. This bar offers you a great choice of dishes at average prices. The homey decor and nice atmosphere let guests feel relaxed here. But Beer Station is not highly estimated by Google users who assigned it a below average rating.

Well, in a world of compromises, you get what you pay for. They'll have a number of good imported European beers, like Duvel, Delerium Tremens, or Erdinger, but be prepared to pay for them. Then you can get domestic choices on tap, but several times, it's tasted rotten. I don't know if I've been unfortunate enough to always get the bottom of the keg, or if they don't clean the taps and I'm drinking mould, but some of those beers smell way off, and this has happened on multiple occasions. If you don't want to pay 8.25 for an imported Belgian beer, then at least pay the extra dollar for bottled beer. Or just don't breathe through your nose as you drink.

Service is friendly enough, nothing exceptional, but not rude in any way. They say hello, take your order, and routinely check up on you. In that sense, they do better than some places, but to me, that should be a given. Though, they can't seem to fill the bar. You may see it bustling on a Friday or Saturday, but on a weekday there will be a couple regulars at the bar, and then a table or two, usually when there's a hockey game. So on that note, it can be a good place to catch the game if other bars are crowded.

I can't comment on the food– the kitchen seems to close as early as 9:30 on a Friday, and I've never seen anyone eating there. Some menu items look nice enough, but I have yet to try. The decor is alright. Fairly nondescript, but not ugly like some older places on Bloor.

Overall, if you ignore the mouldy-tasting beer on tap, there isn't anything overly bad about this place, but I can see why the business seems to go to other places nearby. If I want cheap beer, Kilgour's, Lab, and Green Room can all deliver a cheap pitcher that doesn't taste like old cheese, with much better ambience. For good Ontario beer, there seem to be new craft bars on Bloor every week– Insomnia and Crafty Coyote are good choices. And if I want a fancy European beer, any of those Belgian places a little further downtown like Prenup or Town Crier can give me the same beers, with better service, better food, much better atmosphere, and surprisingly similar prices.

Go to Beer Station if you want a couple shots and a couple moderately priced beers, and maybe to catch the game, but don't bring anyone you want to impress.

I felt compelled to post a review based on my multiple experiences at this establishment. The bartenders have always been outstanding, though their stay is usually short. The beer selection is quite extensive. The owner is completely socially awkward and just miserable. For example, last night my boyfriend and I wanted to have a beverage. We came at 1am and at 1:20, the owner came out and announced it was last call (though the bar was closed at 2am). The bartenders were rushing to take orders. The place had well over 15 paying customers still drinking.
Another patron who was playing pool had wanted a glass of water, which the owner refused him. There were no bottles of water for sale and I have no idea why you wouldnt offer a paying customer, a glass of water. These are just some of the examples of this extablishment I do not understand. One would think you would want to do more for your customers! Shocked this place has stayed in business as long as it has.
