As a treat, I decided to take my niece (10yrs old) back to Belle Epoque for high tea after a fantastic experience back in 2021. Unfortunately, our visit yesterday (2nd March) was very different. The staff atmosphere was very frantic and rushed. We had booked 2 adult and 1 child high tea. After receiving our 3 tier stands, we noticed the child high tea was not as it stated on the menu. After enquiring with staff we were advised there had been issues in the kitchen and unfortunately they were unable to provide the child options. An alternative of a ham and cheese croissant was offered however although lovely was not what a high tea experience is meant to be. We also never received scones with our high tea and again when we asked were offered the option to take some home. Overall a very poor high tea experience and we are very disappointed, especially as the cost in no way reflected the experience.
