For the last 15 years, every time I came from the US to Angers, I tried to have at least one meal at Belle Rive. Before a big fire burned everything down years ago, it was a nice setting but after that it was even far nicer, with a beautiful view on the river Maine (despite recent flooding!) Yet the food has always been really good and very well presented. Yesterday I had their foie gras and a pigeon, with a nice Saumur wine. I don’t know why they are not in the Michelin guide, because they are really better than some that are in the guide in Angers. But maybe they want to keep this place secret.
