Really disappointed by our experience at Bellini Rooftop. My husband is Tunisian but has lived permanently in the UK, and we were looking forward to a nice evening. Unfortunately, the security guard refused him entry because he said his T-shirt wasn’t appropriate. It was a clean, smart casual T-shirt and no more casual than what plenty of other people inside were wearing. What upset us most was watching other guests dressed similarly, and in some cases even more casually, being allowed in without any issue. The rules clearly weren’t being applied consistently. My husband remained polite throughout and simply asked why he was being refused, but the security guard was rude, dismissive and seemed to take an instant dislike to him. We were left feeling embarrassed and singled out. Afterwards, my husband spoke to the local police, who also felt the situation had been handled unfairly and even offered to contact the tourist police on our behalf. We declined because we didn’t want our evening to become an even bigger issue, but it reinforced how unreasonable the whole situation appeared. We’ve visited Bellini before and always enjoyed it, which makes this even more disappointing. If you have a dress code, it should be clearly displayed and applied fairly to everyone, not enforced selectively. Sadly, because of the way we were treated, we won’t be returning. I’d think twice before visiting if you expect to be treated fairly and with respect.
