Overall disappointing. Ordered the following: - Burrata with artichoke - Merguez sausage with labneh - Sourdough and aleppo butter - Fried potato and date butter - Grilled chicken with salad Upon arrival the seating arrangement is unique, atmosphere looks ok, its a bit cramped but not that bad. Service wasn't so good, while staff weren't rude, it took a while to take our oder and staff would serve food over our hands while eating, instead of leaving by our side. Additionally, each dish came out randomly one or twice at a time, which was also not informed when taking our order. The food was underwhelming. I was happy to see a small curated seasonal menu, but it didn't help. Burrata was ok, the lemon pairing was sharp and fresh at least. Sourdough could've been served warm and the aleppo butter just tasted like a regular whipped butter. Merguez sausage while grilled nicely looked so much more flavourful than it actually tasted, it was almost plain. Fried potatoes while crispy were too big leaving some of the bigger pieces to taste more chunky than fluffy and while I was excited for the date butter it was too subtle, I don't think it suits its whipped serving style as it was just too light and muted with the potatoes. It had so much potential to be a rich butter to accompany the crispiness of the potatoes. Grilled chicken was also grilled well although just tasted ok, still nothing really special. I'm aware they have been awarded for the drinks, unfortunately didn't try but am sure they may taste better than their food offerings. For sheffield there are plenty options around this price range for better small plate resturaunts (orange bird is a fantastic example). I would not recommend bench at all.
