So I visited April and May and June and July because Berchoux is just that magical. First, the head honcho of Berchoux, Julie, will greet you with a smile and maybe a joke or kind word. Their manner is so kind and gracious and fun and funny and welcoming. Then you realize this is the chef - someone who has taught students how to make their incredible specialities all over the world - yet is so modest and warm that you realize you’re in brilliant hands. So you hang out and maybe talk to the server - get your first taste and then POW - the food is just five star. So you order your next course - and while that’s cooking you learn about incredible musical acts that may be coming to play in the same adorable little bistro you’re eating in now. If you’re lucky you’ll get to hear them warm up - and I can promise - Julie is only bringing in musicians who are equally skilled as she is in the kitchen and equally as warm. Then your food comes out and whether it’s her chicken burger with fresh cut potato fries or her pasta with truffle cream, you melt into your seat because it’s so deliciously satisfying yet still complex and delicious. Then - either the music starts or you’ll get chatted up by the staff about fun happenings in the neighborhood, introduced to Julie’s bountiful community of friends or you’ll be serenaded by the musicians - and no matter what it is, you will tear up. Because the food, the setting, the warmth and the beauty of Julie and this place she built so carefully will touch your heart. All at a price that allows you to come back day after day without breaking the bank. Sounds too good to be true? Berchoux is 2 minutes away from the Lamarck-Caulaincourt metro stop. Come see for yourself. PS. Julie’s award winning carrot cake is world renowned. Don’t leave without a slice or three.
