Beyond Café is a welcome addition to Mwanza's café scene. I'm still not completely convinced by the location next to U-Turn Supermarket. On the one hand, it's convenient to combine grocery shopping with a coffee stop. On the other, it's a busy part of town with limited parking and quite a few people approaching customers outside. I'd recommend walking there or getting dropped off. From the outside it doesn't look particularly inviting, but once you step inside it's surprisingly cosy and welcoming. It's clearly a former backyard that has been transformed nicely with a roof, smooth flooring and beautiful woodwork. During the daytime, however, it gets rather hot. A few ceiling fans would make a big difference, as the single standing fan struggles to keep up. The pastries were excellent. The cupcakes and coffee butter cake were delicious, and the cappuccinos come in impressively large cups. We didn't try the main dishes (I saw the menu includes pizzas and steaks). There's also a small gift corner selling Mama Hive products, which is a lovely touch. We also appreciated the small children's corner with crayons, although adding some paper would complete it. The seating could be improved, as there are only a few tables and it's difficult for groups of four or more to sit together comfortably. Overall, the café has a lot of potential. The staff were friendly and skilled, and with a cooler indoor climate and a few adjustments to the seating, this could become one of Mwanza's go-to cafés.
