What an outstanding meal! We took our two guests from the USA on a trip from Wexford down to West Cork and Kerry. We spent a full day in Kinsale as our first stop. Having been in Kinsale previously we knew of the numerous excellent restaurants in the town. We had heard very good things of this relatively new establishment and were the first to be seated at the 6.00 pm opening time. We were in for a treat. Warmly welcomed the service was just right-not too intrusive, always with a genuine smile, and our server ( whose name I’m afraid I have lost) seemed to automatically gauge our party was a mix of experienced European dinners and Americans on their first overseas trip. She explained the dishes perfectly and in a way our guests were put at ease with. I chose the Pan fried Irish scallops in Sauternes sauce with black pudding for my starter. Absolutely divine with the black pudding cooked to perfection and complemented by the Sauternes sauce in a way I never would have thought of. My companions relished the freshness of their 1/2 dozen oysters. For mains I opted for the oven roasted Hake with bacon lardons and mussels.Perhaps the most enjoyable fish dish I have eaten and I am a regular visitor to Michelin starred premises. My dining companions raved about the sirloin steak and the ravioli. Four coffees and a baked Alaska rounded out the meal. I will conclude by stating that an evening meal at Bia Kinsale was a wonderful experience which I cannot recommend highly enough. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
