Tried to stop in tonight to see if it was still open after the owner unfortunately passed away. Sadly, it's not. Some of the best German food around! It will be missed

I have been here several times, but I will not be returning after tonight. Every time I have visited the Bier Haus has been seriously understaffed with 1-2 servers forced to cover both the bar and restaurant. Tonight a group of 8 called ahead and was told a table would be ready for us to celebrate a special event in a friend's life. We were taking him out to celebrate. When we arrived a table had been set up for another party of 12 who had not arrived. We were asked to squeeze into a table usually seating 4 until the party at the adjoining table left (they didn't leave for another 40 min.). But no sweat, we squeezed in, ordered drinks, and ordered appetizers. We also made sure to order entrees before the newly arrived table of 12. The party of 12 was fully served their beers before half of our group which had ordered first. Again, not great but we knew they were busy with at least 30 customers and only 2 servers. Our appetizers arrived. We had to ask for silverware, more water, and mustard. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. Our server stopped by to tell us our food would be out in 10 min or so. We waited longer. Even though we ordered first, the table of 12 received their food first. Then we waited some more. We had been waiting now for over an hour when our server came to our table to apologize that while she had entered our order, it had not made it to the kitchen. This was the same server who had 20-30 min earlier told us our food would be out soon. We were dumbfounded. She wanted to know if we wanted to order food again. We asked if some of our order would be comped for the mistake and long wait. She said she was sorry for the error but no. We asked to speak to the manager. A man came out of the kitchen and explained that we could not re-order because the kitchen was now closed! We explained that we had been waiting for an hour and 15 min+ and now had to find another restaurant open on a Friday night at 9:30pm. He walked back to the kitchen. While this was happening I noticed a couple who had come in 20-30 min before leaving without ever having their order taken. Finally another server came over and said they were comping our drinks and appetizers. We left a tip for our server because she had provided us service. The food here is solid but not exceptional. The restaurant is horribly understaffed and this is a recurrent issue. 6 of us have eaten here before. We won't be back sadly.
