Kysty in Ambleside is a hidden gem. Located in the heart of Ambleside, Kysty is the sister restaurant to the Michelin-starred Old Stamp House and just as good. The menu offers a mix of traditional Cumbrian dishes with ingredients from around the world. The food is inventive and flavourful, with well-crafted dishes like Arctic Char, Venison, and Guinea Fowl. The desserts are delicious, particularly the Gingerbread Cheesecake. The wine pairings are also excellent choices. The service is friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming.
The prices are very reasonable, with three courses for under £25. Kysty is an excellent choice for a special evening out or a casual lunch. Highly recommended!
A real treat. The three of us had a wonderful lunch at Kysty. We had the cured chalk stream trout, the charred mackerel followed by the guides hen with Madeira sauce, the chocolate device and the rum tart. What a delicious, delicious meal with fabulous service. We loved the wine pairings. Oh that we lived nearer to dine here regularly. Had lunch there today,.
Both my wife and I thought it was phenomenal for both quality and value for money.
The amuse bouche and what they refer to as pre meal 'snacks' packed a real flavour punch and were followed by home made malt beer bread.
The starters and mains were faultless and so good that we decided to have desserts which again were superb.
We will definitely revisit when back in Ambleside.
