I want to start this review by saying, this is not my first time at this restaurant, I have been several times before, my last time was New Years Eve 2023 and I have always enjoyed it. We went to Blaqhaus ATL on Saturday Feb. 24, 2024 at 3pm to celebrate my nieces birthday. Let’s start with the fact that they no longer serve alcohol however, you can bring Champagne for $10 and liquor for $20. Next, they have one server for the entire restaurant, one lady walking around taking pictures, and apparently one cook. The brunch menu states 11am-4pm, however, we were advised by the waitress at 3:15pm that they were no longer serving brunch. At this point we were ok with everything because we were already there. So we ordered from the parts of the menu she said we could order. I ordered the Jumbo Shrimp and fries, however, she stated that they didn’t have jumbo shrimp it was just regular shrimp, so I ordered the Grilled Cheese Sandwich that came with potato wedges. She then stated that potato wedges is a brunch item so we aren’t serving them right now. So of course I had an entire WTH moment because according to what you said, I can order from any menu except brunch well the potato wedges come with the sandwich and is also listed as a regular side not a brunch item. Then if that wasn’t enough, two people ordered an orange juice and she came back with one orange juice and said that this was the last orange juice. In all fairness, to the waitress it was clear that she was frustrated because she is the only waitress serving approximately 3-4 parties of 6 or more people. Where she does not get credit is when I asked to speak to a manager she claimed she was calling him and before walking off told us her birthday was next Tuesday so let’s turn up, then went to the back where we could see and hear her scream. First, a turn up would’ve been great if they actually served alcohol, secondly, it was super unprofessional for her to express her frustration at us when her issue should be with her management who clearly need to do a better job with everything related to managing the restaurant. When the food finally came out, the people who ordered the burger asked for mayo on the side, the burgers came out without the mayo and after asking for mayo (20 minutes or so) she stated and I quote “ I have to wait for the cook to put the mayo in the window.” I was able to speak with one of the owners and he was very apologetic, so much that I agreed not to write a review, however, that changed when we received horrible service and there was acknowledgment of such, we were still charged an automatic gratuity of 18%. Overall, I love supporting my black businesses, however, I would not recommend this place to anyone until they are able to make the necessary changes needed to bring the quality of food and service up to par. If they work out the kinks, I will be back. My suggestion to management to increase revenue while they are dealing with the liquor situation is to allow BYOB but don’t charge for it, I love BYOB establishments, and have never been charged to bring in my bottles of liquor, champagne, etc. To remedy the situation with being understaffed and minimal food and drink options, downsize your menu and offer a limited amount of items that can be cooked but don’t have a tremendous impact on service. Lastly, if you do not have adequate staff or resources, maybe consider opening on the weekends for brunch only. We waited over 2 hours for our food. There was even a 30 minute period where no one took our order. Then the waitress India told my friend that Steak and Eggs was discontinued when she tried to order it and as we were paying we watched someone else get their steak and eggs at their table. They didn’t even have alcohol. The water cups were dirty we had to ask for plastic cups. I had to ask random people to find my waitress so I could get anything cause she never came to check on us. My friends grits were cold. The chicken was good but it wasn’t worth everything else. Waiter was nice and respectful but they had NOTHING. No wing and gave small bitty pieces of chicken tenders as replacements. Not sure if they were saving them for the superbowl. Food came out cold. Then we had to bring our own bottle i had high expectations but not sure if ill go back. Service: Dine in Meal type: Brunch Price per person: $10–20 Food: 2 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 1
