Block is your best choice for a great burger or sandwich at a decent price in Banff. Interesting blend of Japanese and Canadian cuisine, reasonably priced given the area. It's tight and cramped, but worth the visit. Bison burger is not a tourist scam -thick, flavorful, rich. Fries are seasoned with Nori and pair well with the Japanese-style mayo. Karaage chicken sandwich was equally great. Honest, homemade food, not microwave nuked, you will wait a bit but it worth it. Only 2 beers on draft but lots of cocktails. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Meal type: Other Price per person: $30–40

We had a very disappointing experience at Block Kitchen + Bar today. While we were waiting outside to be seated, the female staff member assisting guests was extremely rude and unprofessional. We were still speaking with her and had not finished our conversation, but she repeatedly allowed the guests behind us to interrupt instead of finishing with us first. There seemed to be no basic sense of order or courtesy, which made us feel ignored and disrespected. During our meal, we asked her for some water. Her attitude was again very unfriendly, and she put the water bottle down on our table with unnecessary force. It was a small interaction, but the manner in which it was handled made us feel very uncomfortable. Unfortunately, the food did not make up for the poor service. We found the dishes quite average and nothing particularly memorable. Overall, the biggest disappointment was the service. Basic courtesy, professionalism, and respect for customers should be expected at any restaurant. Based on our experience today, we would not return. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $20–30
