Writing this while still eating the pastries This is ridiculously good. The kind of pastry that makes you stop mid-bite and wonder how something so delicate can even exist. The lamination, the texture, the balance of flavours everything feels incredibly precise and refined. I’m genuinely in awe. These might be some of the finest pastries I’ve had in a very long time. The Banana Biscoff Cruffin was rich, buttery, and packed with caramelized banana and Biscoff goodness, while the Ube Coconut Pastry was light, creamy, and beautifully presented. Paired with a refreshing Banana Matcha Latte and a nutty Black Sesame Latte, it made the perfect afternoon treat. Bloomwood on Exhibition Street in the Melbourne CBD is, without a doubt, one of my favourite cafés anywhere. The standout for me is their citrus cold brew with yuzu cream, it genuinely lives rent free in my head. It’s unique, refreshing and something I always come back for. The pastries are also exceptional. Some of my favourites include the Dubai chocolate croissant, maple glaze cinnamon scroll and the hazelnut tiramisu double baked croissant. I also love the mini croissant sticks for dipping into coffee, they’re not just aesthetic, they’re actually delicious. Service here is consistently top tier. Darren, one of the managers, is always so warm and welcoming and even remembers my regular order, which is such a nice touch. The whole team are friendly, attentive and clearly take pride in what they do. In terms of seating, there’s a small waiting area inside, upstairs seating and some outdoor tables. It’s generally kid and pram friendly, although if you’re planning to sit upstairs it may be a bit tricky with a pram or wheelchair. On colder days, takeaway is probably the easiest option. It does get very busy, especially in the mornings and around lunchtime with nearby office workers, but the line moves quickly. A great tip is that if you’re only ordering drinks, you can use the iPad at the base of the stairs to skip the main queue. Overall, an incredible café with standout drinks, high-quality pastries and genuinely excellent service. I always look forward to coming back.
