We went for the fringe studio ghibli set meal and film. It was a lovely setting with twinkly fairy lights and of course a studio ghibli film. However I have several comments considering it was £55 each: 1) the start time was down as 6:30pm but we didn’t actually receive our first drink until 7:30pm it didn’t say anywhere when booking that this would be the case which makes me think they wanted us to get there early to spend extra money on drinks 2) the food menu was cheap. The starter was probably the most expensive thing, but they had a snack of popcorn (definitely the same stuff you can microwave), bento box with a tiny amount of kimchi, hardly any kara-age chicken and fried spam and some horrible tinned pears with ice cream. It felt like they cheaped out to make as much money as possible. 3) drinks were too sweet and not very well balanced, which is a shame. Overall felt like a money grabbing exercise and I wasn’t particularly impressed by the food or drinks. Price per person: £20–30 Food: 3 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4

I discovered Blossoms in the most unexpected, magical way. I was on a self-imposed “no maps” adventure through Brighton, taking a step back into an age before the internet, letting the kindness of strangers – and simple curiosity – guide me. My day drifted from the peaceful city gardens, through streets of elegant old terraces and iron balconies, to a quiet coffee in the South Lanes, where I finally decided to let fate decide where my feet would go next. Fate led me to Blossoms. From the moment I stepped inside, it felt less like walking into a restaurant and more like arriving at a home away from home. The atmosphere was warm and calm, with none of the rush or impersonality you sometimes feel in busy city spots. I was welcomed with genuine hospitality that immediately softened the edges of the day. Sarah was my first point of contact, and meeting her felt like a small act of destiny. She made me a Bloody Mary that, in my own experience, is simply the best I’ve ever had – perfectly balanced, full of character – but it was everything around the drink that really stayed with me. She moved through the restaurant and bar with a quiet, confident grace, checking on each table not out of obligation, but out of a very real love for people. Between refills and recommendations, she shared stories, flavours and her well‑versed knowledge of sake, not as a script, but as someone opening a door into the culture behind every bottle. It was crystal clear this is not “just a job” to her; it’s a craft she’s chosen, a space she takes pride in, and a little community she builds one guest at a time. She is, in every sense, the best of hosts. Beside her was Nadeen, who mirrored that same passion in her own way. Watching her work from my seat felt like watching someone speak a language made of colour, aroma and movement. Every cocktail she created was both beautiful to look at and a joy to taste – precise, thoughtful, and full of personality. When a new trainee arrived for his very first day, she slipped naturally into the role of mentor, guiding him with patience, clarity and encouragement. That simple interaction said so much: this is a place where craft is loved, protected and passed on, not just performed for a paycheck. Together, Sarah and Nadeen gave Blossoms a soul. It went far beyond “good service” – it felt like being welcomed into a living expression of their love for people, culture, and what they do. I ended up spending far longer there than I’d planned, completely losing track of time in the best possible way. Eventually, I had to tear myself away to check on my mate, who was in the middle of getting tattooed by the best Celtic artist in the UK – our original reason for coming to Brighton at all. But as I walked back through the winding lanes and past Brighton’s distinctive architecture, I realised something: Blossoms had already become part of my Brighton story, as essential as the tattoo appointment itself. It was a place I had never searched for, and yet I felt like I was always meant to find. Blossoms is not just a restaurant or bar. It’s what happens when fate, craft and genuine human warmth meet in one small corner of a city. If you’re visiting Brighton: put your phone away, wander the gardens, grab a coffee in the South Lanes, let fate decide where your feet go – and hope they lead you to Blossoms. With people like Sarah and Nadeen at the heart of it, you won’t just have a meal or a drink; you’ll walk away with a memory. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
