Food great, good menu, lovely egg mayo sandwiches, freshly made, and nice sausage rolls, but service incredibly slow and wasn't even busy.Id eaten my sandwich and sausage roll before my husbands soup arrived, and we were told the soup was on its way when my sandwich was delivered. We had to go and get it and were told to go to the back of the queue...er No !! Pull your socks up in the cafe, great location, lovely setting, speed up the service and clear some tables then it's a winner . Food: 4 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 4

Dined here earlier today (11/4/2026). Had I known that Dayglo orange potato salad was going to form part of the salad I ordered, I wouldn't have bothered. (Cooked new potatoes coated with an orange sauce.) I have never tasted anything so vile in my life. They tainted the flavour of the other salad ingredients, and I was obliged to leave half of my meal. What happened to your delicious salads of three or four years ago? If I visit again, I will have nothing more adventurous than a cup of tea or coffee. Food: 1 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4

After wandering town in the cold looking for somewhere suitable I found the bluecoat cafe. The hot chocolate was just what I needed after a freezing wind outside and my kids had some food too. The food looked great and well prepared. The staff were friendly and patient with me since I was having trouble with my card. Will definitely come again. The kids were comfortable being there too which is a bonus, they usually start messing around after a while but they stayed well behaved! Great atmosphere, lovely friendly people there too willing to help a disabled person in need. Price per person: £1–10 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
