We booked the boat room for a small family meal directly after getting married. Unfortunately, while the food itself was nice, the overall experience and service left us pretty disappointed. Beforehand, we were told we couldn’t put any decorations out because they could potentially end up on the floor and block the hoover, which seemed a little excessive given the occasion. The boat room itself was also incredibly hot. It was a very warm day, so we appreciate that didn’t help, but there was no air conditioning. They did say there had been a fan in there the day before, but when we arrived they were unsure where it had gone - probably the kitchen! Another frustration was that we weren’t told until we came to order that the pizza oven had been switched off because it was making the kitchen too hot. That’s completely understandable on such a hot day, but it would have been helpful to have been told when we arrived, as the children and around half of our table had planned to order pizza and then had to choose something else. Instead, we were rather rudely told that the oven was “obviously” off because of the heat, as they couldn’t have two ovens running in the kitchen. It might have been obvious to the staff, but as customers we had no way of knowing that until we were told. The biggest issue, though, was the service. Because the boat room is tucked away in an alcove away from the main restaurant, we felt forgotten about for much of the meal. There were several occasions where we were left waiting for long periods and eventually had to get up and find someone to ask if we could order, get more drinks or get the bill. The restaurant didn’t appear particularly busy at the time either, which made this even more surprising. The food was enjoyable, but unfortunately the overall experience didn’t feel particularly welcoming or special, and we left feeling pretty unimpressed. A real shame, as with better communication and more attentive service it could have been a lovely end to a very special day. Food: 4 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Price per person: £20–30

Cod and chips worst I have ever eaten do much Greece chicken salad used leg meat instead of Brest 2 small bottles of water £7 never go again

Expensive for what you get. Beef and ale pie - pastry very hard, difficult to swallow. with it was Cabbage that was grilled,??? was burnt and tough to cut never mind eat. Steak was OK but nothing special, 1 onion ring, half a tomato and a bowl of chips - £24 really. Fish chips and mushy pies £15, was from what I was told by a member of our party was very ordinary. The place inside looks nice after its refurbishment, looks like they are trying to recoup their money by cost of the food. Sorry can't recommend and will be a long time before we try their again.
