If hungry, come here for perfectly cooked prawns, ceviche and fish. Live music is played by musicians in the evening. Imagine a combination of great dishes and the creative staff, this is exactly what this restaurant provides you with. The prompt service is something these restaurateurs care about. We intended to go to Caras (Faces) but they were not open. This place was further down on the same block. Bocamar serves primarily seafood (not uncommon for any Mexican beach town), although they will serve a few beef dishes, out waiter (Pedro) mentioned a rib eye and there was a beef burger on the menu,, and I suppose they also have some arrachera somewhere. First place in a while that I saw Oysters Rockefeller and Camarones Cucarachas on the menu. One thing I did *not* see on the menu were shrimp tacos, but I did not ask either. We had a shrimp burger with fries, queso taquitos with guacamole, and three beers. The taquitos were just an appetizer as my gf was not very hungry. Our spend was $653 pesos (USD $37.86) including ~15% tip. To be fair, we normally eat and drink more than this, so I'd expect our normal spend to be around $800-900 pesos including tip, which is why I marked the $400-500 box. Service was excellent, Pedro was very attentive. It helps if you speak a little Spanish, but they do have English menus. We are here during off season (May) and I'm not certain, but I think we were the only customers there. They gave us a couple of appetizers gratis, some shrimp pate on Ritz crackers and frijoles on chips. My gf loves frijoles, so that went over really well. We sat on the patio out front and enjoyed the evening breeze, but they also have an upstairs terraza which I don't think was open at the time. Baños (restrooms) are inside the restaurant past the bar on the right, the men's was clean and had a toilet seat, TP, sink, soap, and paper towels, I didn't check the women's. This is a hidden gem in Progreso. It is the best restaurant we went to when we were in the City for a whole month. And we tried several. It is a litte off the beaten path, but its worth it. Get the seafood pasta and their red wine. And find out when they have live music. It was low key but awesome!!! Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $200–300 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
