After a week of vodka, plov, and shashlik across Uzbekistan, we needed a change of pace and stumbled across this quirky little beer hall in Samarkand. Somewhere between a German beer cellar and a cowboy movie set. The giant barrel entrance alone made us stop and walk in. Because apparently subtlety was left behind centuries ago on the Silk Road. Cold beers, smoky sausages, crispy fries, and excellent smoked cheese absolutely hit the spot after days of rich Uzbek food. Service was warm and friendly, and the atmosphere had a relaxed local vibe where you could happily sit for hours with friends. Not a polished tourist venue pretending to be authentic. Just a genuinely fun local place for beer, comfort food, and a different night out in Samarkand. There’s an interesting bar called “Bochka”, designed to look like an actual bochka means barrel. We went there just before sunset, and it was quiet. Draft beer was 15,000 UZS. There was no English menu, but you could choose snacks from the fridge. The atmosphere was unique, and the interior design was quite special—it can be a fun experience. Each table seats a maximum of six people, no more than that. Price per person: UZS 1–50,000 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Vegetarian options: There is potato barbecue.
