After a lovely afternoon at Reifel Bird Sanctuary, we stopped for dinner in Ladner and happened upon Bombay Joes. The staff were polite, friendly, and efficient. The food was delicious. After happily eating my butter chicken, I ordered a large take-out container of their butter chicken sauce. It is a nice little restaurant, we went early and it was quiet (although steady with pick-ups). Overall it was an excellent dinner and I look forward to going there again.

We called in to order takeout yesterday and were informed that 2/3 dishes that we were looking to order were not available (they did not have any fish). We informed the individual on the line that we were going to have to take a look at the menu again and would give him a call back shortly. Upon having decided on what dishes to order, we called back, unfortunately, the phone died and cut our order short. We used a different phone and called back and the man stated, verbatim, "Why are you playing these games, you've called multiple times, why are you playing these games?" We inquired as to what he meant and stated that we would like to order, he then stated that they don't have any of the dishes that we were ordering off of their menu. He continued, "you keep calling and you want to use Groupon, call Groupon and ask them for a refund" and hung up. There was no conversation about what had happened and no acknowledgment of the fact that they did not have many of the menu items that they have listed.
We have never experienced more appalling behavior and have never been treated this way. We order for delivery and takeout on a weekly basis and the businesses never have a problem with a patron calling back, should they not have fully decided, and placing their order. I will never understand why restaurants decide to join Groupon but have a problem with patrons using said Groupons. As far as we are concerned, we will never go to Bombay Joes. You would think that being in the hospitality industry, the individual would know how to treat a customer, Regardless, the downright rude and insulting behavior that we witnessed deserves to be acknowledged. I hope that no one else encounters this individual should they decide to attend this restaurant.

Decent enough place, a nice atmosphere, and the family running it are swell.  That being said, the prices are atrocious for an Indian restaurant, they could only get away with this in Ladner, where there's no competition and people are willing to pay three times the value if they're told it's special somehow, which Bombay Joes does with their 'healthy' spin on Indian food.  9 dollars for 4-6 paneer pakoras is unthinkable.

Still, the flavours are excellent.

Try: Rice dishes and veggie dishes, the Biryani flavours really stand out.
Pass: Curries and anything in a sauce.  The 'healthy' attitude doesn't do these rich sauces any favours.
