Great location for a nice lunch with live music and great food. Service was excellent and the spicy margarita left me wanting the recipe. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Price per person: $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Cuban Sandwich with Plantain Chips and Lime Sauce

Some grim dining choices in this part of the Miami airport. I was hoping to get something tasty for my flight back to L.A., as I'd paid for an overpriced Delta wrap on my way in, but when I hopped on Yelp all I saw were places with 1 to 2.5 stars. I decided to at least eat at the bad Cuban spot and picked Bongos Cuban Cafe. It was probably the right choice. Bongos was the most prominent eatery in the little terminal food court, and it featured a full bar for people looking to drink before take-off. I ordered my food from a friendly bartender/server. He called me sweetheart, which I dislike, but then I left my boarding pass on the bar and when I ran back from my gate to get it, I found he'd saved it and kept it behind the counter for me--a total sweetheart. I ordered the lechon asado to eat on the plane, and this was tastier than expected. It was a take-out box filled with roasted pork seasoned with lime, garlic, and oregano, topped with onions and served with rice and black beans. Not amazing or anything, but the pork was cooked tender with a lot of flavor, and the sides were fine. It smelled pretty strong, though, a powerful pork stench that probably meant something was not quite right. I definitely felt bad about it on the plane. I ate it and threw out my trash as quickly as I could. It was satisfying, at least, and nothing bad happened, which is maybe a low bar but not low enough for a lot of airport eateries. If you're looking for a passable meal in this terminal, I'd recommend the lechon at Bongos. Just maybe eat before you board.
