The Boot and Shoe is just a really solid pub. the drinks and the atmosphere is absolutely spot on. It’s got that proper pub feel as soon as you walk in. Nothing fancy, just a relaxed, easy place to have a pint. You can sit quietly or end up in a random chat with someone at the bar, and it never feels forced. The staff are great as well; friendly, down to earth, and actually around when you need them. Even when it’s a bit busy, you’re not stood there forever trying to get served, which makes a big difference. Overall, it’s just a good, honest pub. If you’re after a laid-back place for a drink with a decent atmosphere, you can’t really go wrong. Price per person: £40–50 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

My wife and I decided to have a night out before Christmas as a warm up for the big day with the family. We heard about the Boot & Shoe pub in Grassmoor from a friend. We are not big pub people but do like the occasional night out at a friendly pub that is not too rowdy. Happily, the Boot & Shoe was just what we wanted, a traditional pub with a good range of draught beers, a mix of customers of all ages and a clean and friendly environment. The pub was nicely decorated for Christmas and the staff were welcoming and happy to chat. We will definitely be returning in the New Year and I understand from the staff that they have a number of events planned that sound fun and family friendly. Price per person: £10–20 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
