Both University of Sussex and Botanical Cafe are recommended for visiting. After a long working week, you can taste good coffee. The staff is said to be nice here. Fine service is something that visitors highlight in their comments. Expect the spectacular atmosphere at this cafe.

The cafe is in a good location (ground floor of jubilee cafe) so you can easily find it. The staff (two women) are quite welcoming whether you’re there to relax (like me), study or grabbing a coffee. The atmosphere is okay like the music being played in the cafe is okay some of the time. Update (April 2026). At least the radio is more modern and pop like. The fact they still play 90s/Dance radio stations still drag me away from the cafe but otherwise I would continue to go there. Otherwise, an excellent cafe for the University of Sussex! I have been a regular customer to the cafe for the past two plus years, and a warm welcome and smiley faces are the norm whenever I go in for my morning coffee. Amy and Stevie are always laughing and happy to chat, making the atmosphere warm and positive. To cap it all, the coffee and pastries are excellent aswell.
