We ended up at SM City Batangas for lunch and decided to try Botejyu. It was around 1 PM, and there was quite a long line, so we waited about 20 minutes before we got a table. Restaurant Background and Service Botejyu was founded in 1946 in Tamade City, Osaka, Japan, and has been serving authentic Japanese dishes around the world, with over 80 branches in the Philippines. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere, using natural light for a warmer, less bright feel compared to regular fast food chains. The staff was friendly, though some seemed a bit low on energy. Our orders came out fairly quick, within about 15 minutes. Food Experience We started with the Botejyu Special Salad (Large, PHP 395), which included lettuce, cherry tomatoes, pork, and more. The dressing was a standout, making the salad delicious. There’s also a smaller version for PHP 210. For ramen, we ordered the Pork Tonkotsu Ramen with Char Siu Pork (PHP 545) and the Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen (PHP 575). Surprisingly, the spicy version tasted better than the regular one. Both had a creamy broth, thin noodles, and pork slices, though they were a bit oily and salty. We also had Takoyaki—the Original Sauce and Mayo Takoyaki (PHP 130 for 3 pieces) and the Umami Sauce & Mayo Takoyaki (PHP 130 for 3 pieces). We preferred the Original Sauce version over the Umami one. To wash everything down, we ordered the bottomless iced tea (PHP 155), which was very refreshing. Pricing Overview Our total bill for two was PHP 2,103, including VAT and service charge (PHP 172). The price is reasonable considering the portions, and they offer promos, especially if you have certain bank cards (like BDO or Security Bank) that offer up to 50% off. The food was great, definitely one of my most recommended japanese restaurant. The staffs were approachable.
