One star is generous for this establishment! We went to Bourbon House expecting at least a decent experience. We told them it was my husband’s birthday when we were being seated. They sat us in a very crowded booth adjacent to a four top. We asked to move and they hesitantly moved us, begrudgingly! Not a good first impression. The environment is like a TGI Fridays really! Our waiter, Jorge, when he finally showed up seemed highly distracted and honestly disinterested in providing even adequate service. He “dropped” our bowls of soup off (my husband had the gumbo worst he has ever had in NOLA) and said he would be back with bread. He never came back with bread and to top it off we were left to stare at our soups as there weren’t any spoons delivered with our soup. We had to flag down a manager to let her know we did not have spoons or bread. The manager swiftly delivered both spoons and bread. Once we were able to eat our soup, the corn and crab chowder was lukewarm and bland. And as I stated, my husband who has been to NOLA many times, said it was the worst seafood gumbo he’s ever had in New Orleans. Finally Jorge showed back up we told him he delivered our soup without spoons and he argued with us that there are always spoons delivered and picked up my USED spoon as if to prove his point (seriously?) What waiter does that?? My husband had already ordered Shrimp remoulade or we would have already leftIt was delivered and it might as well have been scooped out of a giant bowl of pre prepared shrimp salad from your local grocery store deli. It was awful. Do NOT go here unless you set the bar extremely low. We were so surprised as the establishment is located at the corner of Bourbon street and Iberville! Go here if you have low expectations. I would never ever recommend this place to anyone. One star is generous. We proceeded to go eat at the bar at Brennan’s steakhouse and had a delightful time. Birthday celebration saved! Shame on you Bourbon House! Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
