After getting back the U.S where the smoothie bowl scene has truly taken off, I was excited to see the on-trend Bowl'n in Perth CBD. Sure, green smoothies has their hey-day - but smoothie bowls are actually a more complete meal, and beautiful to boot. The Co-Co (a chocolate smoothie made with cocoa, avocado, honey, peanut butter and coconut milk with flavours of banana and sea salt) in a thick mousse consistency with glorious toppings - add bee pollen for a burst of colour and vitamins. My fellow bowl enthusiast friends had the Og Acai Bowl (purple Amazonian superfood with raspberries, blueberries and coconut water) and the bright pink Dragonfruit 'special of the day' bowl which was an icy, fruity sensation (channelling a Fruit Tingles vibe). The cafe space is plant-filled and fun, but only has one table with a few chairs.There is a fridge with kombucha, raw juices and superfood balls - the salted caramel slice looked particularly delicious. This is the kind of meal that epitomises summer so your best bet is to go in the 140 Perth laneyway behind Bowl'n and sit on an outdoor picnic table, basking in the sun.
