I recently visited Brewski Liverpool with my girlfriend and ordered the Ski Season Sharer. I’ve previously been to the Chester location, which was genuinely amazing, so I went in with high expectations. Unfortunately, this visit was a real letdown in comparison. The burger and steak was the standouts and genuinely very good, and if it hadn’t been for that, this would have been a one-star review. The rest of the food just didn’t hit the mark. The potatoes were clearly overdone, deep fried to the point they were actually hard, which made them unpleasant to eat. The pasta roll was very dry, and surprisingly there was no real truffle flavour coming through at all, which is disappointing given how distinctive truffle usually is. The mash was okay, but nothing memorable. The chicken itself was battered well, but the curry sauce served with it didn’t resemble curry in taste or flavour. To add to the disappointment, our server asked if we’d like more sauce, which made sense given how minimal the portions were with the meal. However, we were then charged over £5 for a peppercorn sauce and a gravy. The peppercorn sauce was okay, but the gravy resembled a watery Bisto, which definitely didn’t justify the extra cost. Overall, it was a disappointing experience, especially compared to how good the Chester restaurant was. I’d still say the burger shows what they’re capable of, but the rest of the meal really needs improving. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3 Price per person: £90–100
