What a brilliant (pun intended) little spot we found nestled in a neighbourhood in Kyoto. Imagine you walk into a Japanese house party and everyone is cool but friendly, listening to tracks on vinyl with some house guests smoking outside in the beautiful Japanese garden. That is what we did when we went to BRILL. The owner, Yoshi, is tending the bar himself, and poured me a natural red wine, while my partner ordered a beer. You can sit at the bar, on a comfy sofa, or dance in the middle of the dancefloor/living room, or just sit outside. I did all four. We happened to go in while there was an event where different DJ’s played their favourite tracks. Come during the day to have a coffee or come at night for a drink. Browse the vinyl collection all day long. What an absolute gem of a place. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Order type: Dine in Price per person: ¥1,000–2,000
