Confused about what's good for breakfast in Singkawang, I searched on gmaps and was curious about Kak Ani's rice porridge because she said rice porridge was typical of Singkawang. The place is on the side of the road not far from the dragon monument, car parking can be on the side of the road. The appearance actually resembles a coffee shop compared to a porridge shop haha, but in West Kalimantan it's common to put it together like this. I ordered complete rice porridge which is quite different from the porridge you find in Pontianak, consisting of pieces of meat, vegetables, fried onions and half-boiled free-range chicken eggs. The rice porridge here looks like regular porridge, only a little denser, so it has texture when you chew it. The porridge is served with clear broth which is light and very delicious. Interestingly, the toppings are served in a separate place, namely nuts, anchovies and tongcay or radishes to add flavor. I also tried the milk coffee which was perfect for coffee in the morning. . Overall, this porridge is delicious and really suits my personal taste, perfect for breakfast when visiting the city of Singkawang.
