We had a recommendation for Budoya from the guys at Good Morning record / wine bar - it was superb. The Budoya owner / chef danced to the music whilst preparing exquisite dishes. Small, nice ambience and amongst Kyoto locals. Perfect and highly recommended, but you'll need to book as produce is purchased daily and prepared to order. We even got a printed recipe for one of the dishes!!!! Meal type: Dinner Price per person: ¥1,000–2,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Very special! Stumbled upon this place walking past and decided to come back- so glad we did. It’s run by a lovely Japanese man who makes all the dishes himself. Great atmosphere, mainly locals when we went. Food was delicious, especially the “Apple Pie”. He is an excellent cook. Prices aren’t shown but we found it very good value for money too. We (2 people) paid about 7000 yen for 4 glasses of wine and 3 dishes. Price per person: ¥3,000–4,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
