Located on Union Pl in Colombo, the restaurant once known as "Burger Cart" is now called "The Chit Chat." Despite the name change, patrons can expect a variety of cuisine options. While burgers are no longer on the menu, a selection of rice and curry items, sandwiches, noodles, and pasta are available. Diners may also find traditional Sri Lankan breakfast dishes such as chickpeas, manioc, and kiribath.
"The Chit Chat" is popular for solo dining and well-received by families with children thanks to its casual atmosphere and diverse offerings. Guests have the option to dine-in, order takeaway, or have food delivered. Though firsthand visitor experiences date back several years, they noted that the establishment offers quick bites and small plates ideal for a fast meal.
Despite being managed by the same team as a beloved juice parlor from Bellanvila, it remains unclear how or if the quality and service have evolved over the years for "The Chit Chat." Currently, the restaurant operates daily from 11:30 AM to 10:30 PM. With limited behavioral insights and a lack of recent owner communication, those looking to explore "The Chit Chat" might visit with tempered expectations regarding cleanliness and food preparation.

Even though the name has changed, the types of cuisines that serve are almost the same. Mainly its Rice and Curry items, Burgers, Sandwiches, Noodles and Pasta, but as I noticed from their menu they serve some traditional Sri Lankan healthy breakfast items such as Chick Peas, Manioc, Kiribath, Kola Kanda and etc.
As I heard from a staff member at "The Chit Chat", they have started this place very recently. They even have not been able to get a time to change the interior structure of this place yet, and at the current moment you can have anything on their menu except for Burgers. Though we wanted to try a Burger so badly, we thought we should give a shot for Noodles and Basmati Chicken Fried Rice.
The Noodles we ordered was really good considering the price we had to pay for it. It costed only Rs.210 and served with a medium size well cooked saucy chicken piece and Chopsuey. The Chicken was little too oily, and it had the taste of Ajinomoto, but the touch of it made the Noodles absolutely perfect. I totally loved it, and it was a fine meal for a cost like that.
Eating the Basmati Chicken Fried Rice was not easy due to the oiliness in the chicken, as well as the chili paste. The taste of Ajinomoto made it even harder. So honestly, it is not a recommendable meal at this place, if you are not a fan of too oily food.
I was surprised to hear that this place runs by the same crew who ran the "Orgo Fruits" juice parlor at Weras Ganga Park, Bellanvila. It is one of my favorite juice parlors at Bellanvila, and I never miss to buy a juice from them whenever I visit there. Since they are still newbies to this place, they have a promotion going on which they offer a free fresh fruit juice for each lunch pack, and a free Kola Kanda for each breakfast. So I guess its my lucky day to have a fine meal and a free drink from one of my favorite juice parlors. :) And more importantly, it was Passion Fruit juice, which something that I never got the opportunity to try from their outlet at Bellanvila. So I felt even luckier. :D
The service at "The Chit Chat" is good, since they serve the food fast and warm. True that this place is not in a level of squeaky clean but they try really harder to give the best service to their customers.
