For lunch, I headed to the legendary Butasute in Okage Yokocho and ordered their Shop-Exclusive Premium Beef Bowl (Tokujo Gyudon). Don't let the name "Butasute" (which literally translates to "throwing away pork") fool you—their specialty is high-quality Ise Beef. This premium bowl uses select cuts (thigh and shoulder) that are lean yet incredibly flavorful. The meat is braised in a rich, dark, and slightly sweet secret sauce that pairs perfectly with the rice. Unlike typical fast-food gyudon, the texture here is substantial and the beefy aroma is intense. The set came with a fresh salad, miso soup, and ginger, making it a complete and satisfying meal.
