Enjoyed a great Sunday Roast at The Butchers Arms. Pleasantly surprised after the recent change of administration. Ordered beef and was very happy with three robust, choice slices along with potatoes, stuffing, York pudding and a tasty ‘pig in a bacon wrap’ garnish! Table bowl features plenty of chopped carrots, cheese cauliflower, cooked red cabbage and mashed (turnip?). All very delicious and accompanied by what seemed to be an endless gravy boat. Don’t be distracted by the York pudding in the picture - it was very tasty. I don’t know how they did it! On that day, pub was worked by one very nice lady doing everything up front. She did an amazing job taking care of all customers alone, and the cook with server kept up brilliantly. This will only improve with more staff flexibility. Of course, the range of available beverages (bottle, can, on tap) is worthy of a leisurely inspection - say, the afternoon?.. I recommend visiting! The pub has recently reopened under new management after a long closure. Previous landlord ran it into the ground, and the new people have an uphill struggle to get it into the sweet spot. Did not eat as too late but ale was good, staff helpful and locals very friendly. They were happy to let us sleep in our camper in the carpark. Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
