The historical Vicky Bakery has a new name. CAO. As their website says, "CAO Bakery & Cafe is a concept named after and inspired by the Cao Family, whose baking traditions spans over three generations. This new brand introduces the next generation of Cuban Bakeries, while still having the same staple items loved by our customers." I was not impressed. At first. Driving past the first time after the name change I grunted to myself. "Everything great gets ruined. Now this will suck. I'm never going in there." So I promptly parked and went in. It is just the gastronomic palace as Vicky Bakery has always been. Everything old is new again and everything new is just as delicious as ever. The authentic Cuban baked goods (such as the incomparable Brazo De Gitano ~ The Gypsy Embrace) are beyond compare. The shop smells heavenly. And now there is a cafe! Sandwiches, sweets, coffee and a smattering of seating both inside and out. Stephanie and Nick are such welcoming hosts! They know how to pair food and good company and we are so grateful. Forget the new name. Stop by ad enjoy continued excellence. It's worth it!
