We chose COD in Riga based on its mention in the Michelin Guide, but unfortunately, our experience couldn’t have been further from those standards. Having visited several Michelin-starred and recommended restaurants before, this was among the most disappointing. We wanted to start with cocktails, but quickly discovered that only a few from the menu were actually available. Switching to a glass of Crémant de Bourgogne, we were told no sparkling wines were in stock. On our third attempt, we tried to order Pinot Grigio, but again were informed that only two out of the already limited white wine options were available. For a restaurant listed in the Michelin Guide, such a restricted and unavailable drinks selection is simply unacceptable (3 out of 5 cocktails unavailable, no sparkling wines, only 2 of 5 white wines offered). The service was also far from Michelin standard. While the food itself was good, the pacing was poor—our sushi and starters arrived together, and mains followed just 10 minutes later. The whole experience felt rushed and uncomfortable rather than refined and enjoyable. To make matters worse, we were charged a 10% service fee that, according to their own policy, only applies to groups of six or more. Overall, this visit highlighted COD’s potential but was ultimately undermined by poor execution, unpolished service, and a disappointing drinks offering. Fabulous atmosphere, modern x medieval. Two waiters, very attentive. Food almost too pretty to eat. Even more delicious than pretty and nice portions. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Dinner Price per person: €50+
