Not the authentic taste we hoped for We ordered the kacchi biriyani, kala bhuna and rumali ruti. Sadly the food was quite disappointing. Both the Kacchi and the Kala Bhuna were overly sweet, with the Kala Bhuna leaving a bitter aftertaste. It didn't taste like authentic Kacchi at all. When we gave feedback to the staff, the waiter suggested we should have asked for it to be spicier. However, as a Bengali restaurant, the default standard for these savory dishes should never be sweet, regardless of the spice level requested. The baseline authentic flavors are missing here. Combo is an excellent restaurant if you’re craving Indian or Bangladeshi cuisine. I’ve visited twice, and both experiences were fantastic. Since I was dining alone, I tried a couple of items from the menu. The fuchka was outstanding—similar to pani puri but topped with shredded cheese, egg yolk, and cucumber. It was served with flavorful tamarind water that had a pleasant hint of chili, creating a delicious balance of sweet, tangy, and spicy flavors. I also ordered the chicken biryani, which was served hot and packed with rich flavors. The chicken tasted fresh and was accompanied by a fresh salad. The portion size was satisfying, and the prices were very reasonable, especially considering the restaurant’s prime location near Arco di Travertino station. Another thing I appreciated was that there was no coperto charge, unlike many other restaurants. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout the visit. The ambience was pleasant, and the restaurant was clean and well maintained. The bathrooms were also very clean, with separate facilities for men and women. Overall, I had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend Combo to anyone looking for authentic and flavorful Indian and Bangladeshi food. Definitely a 5-star experience!
