Great welcome from Mathilde and her team in the dining room: they all have a smile and its a pleasure to talk to them. As for Chef Ben, the dishes he concocts in the kitchen full of aromas and flavors are a treat for the taste buds. Moreover, to conclude a good dinner, there is this ambiance which rises to a crescendo orchestrated by the rhythm of Mathilde's excellent musical choices. We were long-time regulars at this very nice establishment. We introduced ourselves to Ben in order to get to know each other in the spirit that animates the festive places of the Basque Country. A delicious prime rib of beef for 2 people enhanced our meal on the terrace on this beautiful evening of August 22. However, surprises punctuated this sweet moment. I will probably quibble: - for a rib of beef at ¬80, no plates but cassolettes (we asked for some but one was chipped), no meat knife, no ground pepper (except the one found in supermarkets ) - a waitress who takes a break on a table on the terrace in front of a beer while checking her smartphone - managers sitting at the table of friends or customers - there was only one person behind the bar and it was very difficult for us to make a call. so I decided to go to the cash register to pay my bill. Quite frankly, we know a lot of restaurants and we appreciated Philippe and Sabine for their availability and kindness, always very professional before the establishment took over. To avoid staying with this bad memory and this surreal image, we will come back when the time comes, hoping that the marks will be found. To make a short response to your lovely comment, We presented our different sizes of beef ribs to you and you chose the one from 1k400 to 80€ (French origin, blond from Aquitaine) served with fresh baby potatoes. So you knew the price! No meat knives in the cutlery pots, I grant you, we should have provided you with them; asking for it on the spot was harder for you than Posting a comment apparently. We have peppercorns and fleur de sel on request but again can be harder to speak out loud than in writing. The waitresses actually have the right to a break which they take with the agreement of management, drinking what they want and with whom they want (rather cool boss/employee policy, perhaps not yours). As for us managers (bosses), we were seated at a table with regular customers and I think once again that we have the right to do as we wish in OUR restaurant. The number of staff behind the bar is also our choice, I hope to still have the freedom to decide. I therefore invite you to stay in your place as a customer and let us manage OUR establishment as we wish. If that doesn't suit you, there's no problem, there's something for everyone. See you soon, I hope for a good, festive and friendly time. More
