Cafe GP, located on W.A Silva Mawatha in Colombo, offers a menu featuring Chinese and fast food cuisines. Though classified as a budget-friendly option, caution is advised regarding food quality based on the limited, outdated reviews available. These reviews highlight inconsistencies, particularly with dish preparation and flavor, suggesting that some of the menu items fall short of expectations.
The café is open daily, accommodating lunch and dinner crowds, with slightly extended hours on weekends. Despite its seemingly convenient operating hours, the café's visibility on popular restaurant directories is minimal, with sparse information beyond a basic listing on Zomato.
It’s noteworthy that the absence of recent reviews or an updated profile indicates a lack of current insights into the café's offerings and standards. Potential diners are encouraged to set expectations accordingly due to possible variances in both service and menu reliability. If considering a visit, it might be prudent to check for any updates or changes directly from the venue.

Cafe GP is yet another restaurant who joins the chain of most affordable restaurants in Sri Lanka. A single look on their menu is enough evidence to support that fact. It has a nice atmosphere, even though it is situated in the middle of busy Wallawatte junction. It is not crowded , so it can be recommended as a place you can have a peaceful dining experience. But there are some things in Cafe GP which can ruin that experience.
Visited this place on a weekday for a lunch. Honestly, I was so excited to visit this place because of the pictures that they have been posted for past several weeks. But it just took several minutes for me to loose that feeling. True that it seems like a place with fully air conditioned environment, but trust me; it is not. If it is air conditioned, it must be just one or two degrees less than what we experience at outside.
We ordered a Burger Milano, Fajita Chicken Burger, Chicken Fried Rice, Seafood Fried Rice, and Beef Chop for the lunch and Pepsi along with them. According to their menu, they serve soft drinks (Pepsi, 7UP, Mirinda etc.) for a cost of Rs.80, so we thought that it is going to served in a cup, because at most restaurants it is the price of a small cup of soft drink. After around 10 minutes, the Pepsi was served for us, and the disappointing thing was that it came in the regular bottle which costs only Rs.45, even for its max price. And the worst part was it was not chilled. It was like drinking water with the flavor of a Pepsi. When we asked from the staff about it, they said that they do not have chilled drinks at the current moment. Usually at a restaurant, the staff is suppose to inform the customers if there is an unavailability in some food or drink, as soon as they got to know about it. But here, there was no informing. And since the place was hardly air conditioned, it was really hard for us to stay in such a heated environment.
Anyway, the food at Cafe GP was really appreciable. The Burger Milano was a big layered burger, with a chicken patty, seafood layer, cheese, poached egg, cucumber, tomato, lettuce and onion. Though I am not comfortable with mixing Chicken and Seafood together in a burger, I must say that I enjoyed it. On the top of the burger there was a black olive, but unfortunately it did not taste good, and I think its because it was not fresh. But overall, the soft bread, the perfectly poached egg and the other components in the burger Milano made a really good combination.
Both of the Chicken and Seafood fried rice dishes tasted really good and both of them were rich with pieces of baked Chicken, Prawns, and cuttlefish. The tasty chili paste that was served with it made it better.
The Beef Chop was the most enchanting dish in our lunch. It was a grilled beef fillet which was juicy with the sauce that they have slathered around it. Even for a person who do not eat beef can very much enjoy the view of it. ;) It was served with mashed potato, boiled vegetables and pepper sauce. I was delighted with that pepper sauce, because one drop of that on mashed potato can create the heaven in mouth. :)
The Fijita Chicken Burger is another exclusive burger in the menu of Cafe GP. It had a chicken patty, topped with cumin powder, and bell pepper, but unfortunately it had no Cheese in it as it described in their menu. But still, it was a good, juicy burger.
The staff took around 30 minutes to prepare our food but when considering the order we placed, I think it is acceptable. Apart from the scenario happened with the Pepsi, the service at this place was fine.
From the experience I had, I think what needs to be improved in Cafe GP is their service and ambiance. Because even for a properly developed restaurant, it is one of the most important points that makes the customers attracted to it.
